My Question: Faxed Copy of lease signed, never moved in, received deposit checks back, do I have to pay 1 month rent?
I signed a fax copy of a lease to hold an apartment in another state. When I got to that state (24 hours later) the apartment was in horrible condition. I advised that I would not be signing a hardcopy of lease and requested my deposits back . Hardcopy could only be signed on weekdays, they don’t do paperwork on weekends. The agent on duty gave those back to me (I lost the credit check fee etc). On Monday the property manager called and stated that I was still obligated to the terms of the lease and should at least pay one months rent. They do not have a hardcopy of lease just faxed.
